This article covers the details of Update 13.
Removed the "Public Area" setting from the interior of River View House.
Adjusted the merchant's stats and sale inventory.
Adjusted the position of the guard's lookout post. In conjunction with this, the exterior Navmesh has been fixed.
Notice: Changes to guard behavior or NPC movement may not take effect immediately. Please travel to a distant location and wait for about 10 in-game days to allow the exterior cells to reset.
About Guard Pathing and Navmesh Design
You may notice guards taking a long detour instead of the shortest path. This is an intentional design choice made to prioritize data stability and prevent potential crashes.
The area for River View House at coordinates (30,2) involves multiple Navmesh records:
- Main wide-area Navmesh: (000FA2AE)
- Edge Navmesh near the watchtower: (000FA2B4)
Originally, these are independent Navmesh records. If I were to merge them into a single Navmesh, one of the vanilla records would be flagged as "Deleted" by the system. Since "Deleted Navmeshes" are a notorious cause of CTDs (crashes to desktop), I have intentionally kept them as separate, independent records to ensure the MOD remains safe and stable.
Effects of Cell Boundaries
The edge Navmesh (000FA2B4) is linked to the boundary of the neighboring cell at (30,1). However, the main Navmesh (000FA2AE) is not directly linked to (30,1) near the watchtower.
As a result, if a guard on the main Navmesh detects something in the (30,1) area, they cannot find a direct "shortcut" across the boundary. Instead, they will take a detour to a point where a valid link exists.
While it may not be the most efficient pathing, it is a necessary trade-off for technical safety. If you see your guards taking the scenic route, please know that they are simply following the safest path provided.
[New Feature: Donations for Talos]
To provide a use for surplus gold in the mid-to-late game, I have added "Donation Items" to the merchant's inventory.
Purchase a "Certificate of Donation" to support the faith of Talos.
Take the certificate and the required gold to the Magic Cauldron in the outdoor crafting area of River View House.
The items generated by the Magic Cauldron will change depending on the amount you donate.
This ticket changes the items generated by the Magic Cauldron depending on the amount donated. If you flip through the pages of the ticket, you will find something written inside. Since the content changes depending on the donation amount, I would be very happy if you would take a moment to read it at least once.
Note: Please be aware that Thalmor NPCs will not have any special reaction if you talk to them while carrying these tickets.
