I have built a new home at the river fork northeast of Rorikstead. This house is fully equipped with a bath, a toilet, and a move-in function for your companions.

There is a merchant's house right next to the player's residence. It’s perfect for picking up supplies or doing a little shopping whenever you need.

[Differences between SE and AE versions]

The one with the notation of SE consists only of the material of Version 1.5.97 environment. The one with AE notation uses the material ("Fishing" resource (ccBGSSSE001-Fish.esm)) that became available after Version 1.6.

"Hearthfire Multiple Adoption" is required to move family members such as spouses and adopted children. Visit this house after installing "Hearthfire Multiple Adoption" and cast the spell "Bless Home" inside the house to move your spouse or adopted child into this house.

Please use "My Home is Your Home" to house animals such as Meeko or stray dogs.

If you are not moving your spouse, adopted children, or other family members, there is no problem even without "Hearthfire Multiple Adoption."

If you are not moving animals such as Meeko or stray dogs, there is no problem without "My Home is Your Home".

[Notes for Xbox One Users]

  1. No Hardware Testing: I do not own an Xbox One, so I am unable to test the mod on the actual console. Please use it at your own risk.
  2. Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions: This mod is compatible with "Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions." However, please note that compatibility was only verified on the PC version. I cannot guarantee it will function perfectly on Xbox One.
  3. Follower Recruitment (AFT): Among the added NPCs, only those with "Follower-compatible voices" can be recruited using Amazing Follower Tweaks (AFT).

[Installation]

As with all moddings, in order to deal with unexpected problems, please back up the save data before installing this mod so that you can always restore it before installing the mod.

There is no specified installation timing. There is no special load order either. I think it would be easier to manage if you put it in the same row as other houses.

[Uninstallation]

When uninstalling this mod, please cancel all the residents' residence settings first, send it to the original location, and then uninstall it.

[How to Uninstall]

Before uninstalling this mod, please ensure you have dismissed all resident settings and sent all NPCs back to their original locations.

When uninstalling, please use a save file where:

  1. All status-boosting effects added by this mod have expired.
  2. You do not have any items added by this mod in your inventory.

Status-boosting effects in this mod are mainly triggered by two conditions:

  1. Temporary buffs gained from activities like washing hands, brushing teeth, using the toilet, or bathing.
  2. Effects from using items (food or potions) added by this mod that provide status boosts.

Important Warning: If you uninstall this mod while these status effects are still active, the magical effects may become "baked" into your save file and remain permanently, even after the mod is gone. To prevent this, please remove all mod-added items from your inventory and wait for all active effects to expire before saving and uninstalling.

[How to Unlock the Main Building]

From this mod onwards, I have introduced a "Home Purchase" process (this helps save the trouble of creating patches later).

1. To the right of the front door of Clear River Cottage, you will find a Rusted Key and a Letter from the Realtor.

2. Along with the house's backstory, the letter explains that you can obtain a brand-new key by using the Magicka Converter located in the adjacent shop. You will need the Rusted Key and 10,000 Gold (the property purchase price).

3. The entrance to the Merchant’s Quarters is on the north side of Clear River Cottage. Please take the key and head there.

[How to use this MOD: PC version and Xone version]

After installing this mod, please save and then reload your game. Once reloaded, you will be able to move up to 6 followers into the two residential areas.

Supported Characters: This feature works for humanoid followers only.

Unsupported Characters: This feature does not work for animals such as Meeko or stray dogs. I have no plans to add animal support in the future.

  • Special Features: Aquarium (the SE version for PC does not have an aquarium).
  • Treasury: Dedicated rooms for Daedric artifacts, a display gallery, and a trophy room with mannequins.

Important: All interior containers are set to Non-Respawn. They are safe for long-term storage of your items.

The master suite is a two-story private retreat. You can head up the dedicated staircase from the first-floor bedroom directly to your personal study on the second floor.

There is a sofa bed in the study, perfect for drifting off into a nap right there if you get tired while reading.

There are three toilets at Clear River Cottage, so you can feel safe. Clear River Cottage indoor bath.

Toilets and baths are also available.

The indoor hot spring features a stunning teal glow that shifts in color as time passes. Since it reacts to your lighting and weather environment, it may look different in your game than in the images provided.

[Outdoor Facilities]

  • Stable: Facilities for your horses.
  • Smithing: Complete set of blacksmithing tools.
  • Magic Cauldron: (The special crafting station for this mod).
  • Fishing Pond: Note: The PC version of SE does not have a fishing pond.

For those rainy days, the outdoor bath comes with an on/off roof function, allowing you to enjoy the hot spring regardless of the weather.

The east terrace includes a charming little gardening space and a hammock that can be toggled on or off—perfect for a peaceful afternoon nap.

Regarding the Stable: In the Creation Kit, I have configured the settings so that your horse should arrive inside the stable when fast traveling. However, during in-game testing, the horse often ends up outside. If this happens, please kindly lead your horse into the stable yourself.

In my test play, the horse often ends up halfway up the entrance stairs, which may be because it wants to go inside the house.

[Merchant Residential Area Facilities]

Merchant living quarters, 4 NPC beds, toilet and bathroom facilities, cooking facilities (cooking pot and oven), Magicka Converter.

A Note for Visitors: You can find the merchant's area on the north side of the building. Keep in mind that many items on the counter are for sale. Watch your hands, so you don't end up with an accidental bounty for stealing.

Magicka Converter(マジカの変換器)

A Magicka Converter is located just inside the entrance to the Merchant's Quarters on the right. In addition to renewing your cottage key, it offers item exchanges at prices that include all processing and delivery fees. It’s perfect for those with deep pockets and a surplus of gold from their late-game adventures.

[About NPC Auto-Undressing]

This mod features an auto-undressing system for NPCs in the baths and toilets. The effect will expire and their original gear will be re-equipped after a certain period of time.

Troubleshooting: If the effect does not expire: Please manually remove "Bath Cloth" or "Restroom Cloth" from the NPC's inventory.

Missing Body Parts: If an NPC's torso becomes invisible while undressed, removing the Bath Cloth or Restroom Cloth will restore their appearance.

Known Limitations: Magic-Resistant NPCs: Some NPCs who possess abilities to "nullify magic" or high magic resistance may be immune to this effect and will remain clothed.

Player Character: The auto-undressing system does not apply to the player. When it’s time for a bath, please be a good sport and strip down manually.

[How to Disable NPC Auto-Undressing]

If you prefer that NPCs do not undress in the baths or toilets, there is a dedicated toggle button.

Location: You can find the "NPC Undressing Control" button immediately to your right after entering through the main entrance of Clear River Cottage. This button toggles the undressing behavior for NPCs both inside the building and in the garden.

Note: When this switch is set to ON, NPCs will remain clothed while using the toilet or bath. Please consider this as a visual-only setting—in terms of roleplay and immersion, you can imagine they have undressed.

[Known Issues]

1. Water Toggle Switches: You can toggle the water in the baths and sinks using the provided switches. However, leaving a large amount of water effects active when exiting to the outdoors may cause the game to crash. Please make sure to turn off the switches before moving to another area. Remember: water conservation is important.

Additionally, rapidly toggling switches in a short period of time puts a heavy load on the game engine, which may lead to a crash. Please operate the switches with reasonable intervals.

2. Water Slider Settings: The "Suspicious Switch" outside activates a water slider. Its trajectory and landing distance are calibrated specifically for the vanilla jump height. If you are using mods that increase jump distance or height, you may fly much further than intended. Please use it with caution.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1: Where is the Treasury located?

A: A secret entrance will appear when you activate a certain switch. Happy hunting!


Q2: I found a very suspicious-looking area...

A: Since that area lies beyond the secret entrance, I intentionally gave it a mysterious and "suspicious" atmosphere.


Q3: I want to move my family in, but this house doesn't appear as an option in dialogue.

[Answer for PC and Xbox One Users]

To move your spouse, children, or other family members, the mod "Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions" is required.

  1. Install "Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions."
  2. Visit this home (Clear River Cottage).
  3. Cast the "Bless Home" spell while inside the house.
  4. You will then be able to move your family here through dialogue.

To have animals like Meeko or stray dogs live here, please use "My Home is Your Home."

[Answer for PS4/PS5 Users]

To relocate your family on PlayStation, the mod "[PS4] Relocate NPC - Your new home" is required.


Q4: I can't assign housemates to the beds in the Player's study or the room above the main entrance.

A: The study is the player's private space. As for the room above the main entrance, I have left it unassigned so that it remains available for use as a guest room or for any other purpose you like. To keep these spaces flexible and private, I have intentionally excluded them from the NPC assignment system.


Q5: NPCs do not undress in the baths or toilets of the Merchant’s Residence.

A: To prevent issues where NPCs fail to re-equip their clothes and wander around undressed, I have intentionally disabled the auto-undress feature in the Merchant’s Residence.


Q6: Why is my housemate just standing there doing nothing?

A: I have set up AI packages for housemates to patrol various indoor and outdoor locations. However, if the furniture or markers at their destination are currently occupied by another housemate, they may pause their patrol. They will resume their movement after a while, so please just think of their "spacing out" as them taking a little break.


Q7: The "Use Magic Cauldron" prompt does not appear.

A: We apologize for the inconvenience. The interaction area for this object is quite small and is located slightly below the rim of the cauldron. Please try switching to first-person view and move your cursor slowly around that specific area until the "Use Magic Cauldron" message appears.


Q8: I obtained a chicken egg ticket, but the egg does not appear in the "Food" menu of the Magicka Converter.

A: Chicken eggs will appear in the MISC menu, not the Food menu. This is because chicken eggs are categorized as Ingredients rather than Food within the game's system. Please check the MISC tab to complete your conversion.


Q9: Why are the items in the Magicka Converter more expensive than at other shops?

A: The Magicka Converter is designed to convert specific materials into other items, or allow you to purchase food using gold and tickets. (Tickets cost 5 Gold for a set of 5—please think of this as just the cost for paper and printing.)

The prices for these exchanges are slightly higher because, in the world's setting, the cost includes the product price, shipping fees, and a small donation to the producers. This system is also intended as a way to utilize surplus gold in the late game.


Q10: Housemates get stuck in front of the west-facing terrace (riverside).

A: Although the path to the west-facing terrace is defined by Navmesh, NPCs may sometimes ignore the designated route and attempt to take a long detour or climb over rocks. Please try turning off the terrace roof or removing a portion of the north fence using the levers; this may help the NPCs find a clear path to the terrace.



[Explanation of the Housemate function.]

A description of the function that allows Followers to live in this house (Housemate function).

I used Mr. UniSL's "Dweller Slot" for Follower's migration function system. Thanks to Mr. UniSL.

[Description of Follower's long-term stay feature]

After installing this mod, please save and load your game. Then, bring your follower inside the house (the interior of Clear River Cottage). Once you are indoors, you will be presented with the option "[Home] Would you live in this house?".

  1. Select the dweller slot from [1] to [6] from "This's your dweller slot." After allocating a dweller slot and then parting from the follower, the follower will start living in this house.
  2. When you talk to the NPC who has become a resident, the option "[Home] I want to manage dwellers." Will be displayed, and you can unlock the dweller slot.
  3. If you want to change the resident, bring the follower you want to change to this house and select the dweller slot you want to change from the conversation "[Home] Would you live in this house?" And change it.

Attention and request: The Essential attribute is given during the stay, but it will return to the default setting after releasing the dweller slot, so if you bring a Follower without the Essential attribute, hire it as a Follower after releasing the dweller slot. Then, please deliver it to a safe place.

When uninstalling this mod, please cancel all the residents' residence settings first, send it to the original location, and then uninstall it.

By using other mods together, it is possible to migrate "NPCs that cannot be made friends normally", but it is recommended to migrate NPCs related to the progress of the quest after the quest is completed. . If you migrate NPCs related to quest progress in the middle of the quest, the quest may not be able to progress.

Also, if you "temporarily make a 'sedated hostile NPC' a friend" and immigrate as a housemate, be careful as it may attack merchants and players after the sedation is lifted.

Serana's associated quest (Dawnguard) has higher priority than the Dweller Slot system, so Serana cannot be set as a housemate until Dawnguard is completed. Please finish all of Serana's related Dawnguard quests before making Serana your housemate.


[Living Quarters for Residents]

There are a total of 6 residential zones available: 4 sections inside Clear River Cottage and 2 sections in the Merchant’s Residence.

  • Resident Beds (1) - (2): Located in the double room in the basement of Clear River Cottage.
  • Resident Beds (3) - (6): Located in the Merchant’s Residence.

Please Note: The beds in the Player's Study and the Loft area above the entrance are intentionally left unassigned. They are not part of the housemate assignment system so that they can remain private or be used freely as guest spaces.

[Sleep Schedule and AI Behavior]

The residents are scheduled to sleep for 8 hours, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. However, if a resident's default AI setting causes them to start sleeping before 10:00 PM, they will initially head to the nearest available bed from their current location.

Don't worry if you see them sleeping in the "wrong" bed early on—at 10:00 PM, they are scripted to wake up once and relocate to their specifically assigned bed for the remainder of the night.

[Housemate Daily Schedule]

  • Breakfast: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
  • Lunch: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

  • Pre-Sleep Tea: 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM (In the Merchant’s Residence dining area)
  • Sleep: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (In their assigned rooms)
  • Outside of meal and sleep times, housemates will roam freely both indoors and outdoors.

Important Notes: Schedule Consistency: Depending on their current activity, housemates may occasionally skip or start their meal schedules slightly late.

Bed Ownership: Beds in the residential areas are not player-owned or NPC-assigned via ownership flags. Since most beds are single-sized, if a follower currently traveling with the player takes a bed first, the housemate will have nowhere to sleep and will remain awake.

This is the access to the loft above the entrance, up until the middle of construction. I was concerned that the ladder was too close to the table seating, so I ended up moving it.

Originally, I planned to build this house with dimensions that matched its exterior perfectly. However, while trying to create enough space for NPCs to follow the player smoothly without getting stuck, I ran into that "every-modder-knows" phenomenon: the interior just kept getting bigger and bigger!

At first, it was meant to be a simple 2-bedroom home. By the time I was finished, however, it had expanded into a 4-bedroom house.
