What I've been working on recently.
I'm currently creating a house mod, and I'm feeling like I want to improve the interior a bit more, so I can't finish the work.
At first it was a small layout of about two rooms, but as is my usual bad habit, it kept getting bigger.
Since the Riverwood renovation mod and Five.Ranger+ House often conflict, I created a relocated version of the Five.Ranger+ House. (This will be released at a later date.)
For example, if you use Riverwood Revitalized and Five.Ranger+ House together, the entrance to your house will be narrower like this.
I can access the entrance to the building, but it's a little too narrow for my liking.
At this distance, if the house next door catches fire, it will all burn together. Riverwood is where dragons fly in.
At the time of this post, Riverwood Revitalized is only available on Bethesda.net for Xone, but a PS4/PS5 version may be released someday. There was a comment requesting permission to transplant. On a side note, since Sofia has been ported to the PS4/PS5 version, I hope Recorder (Recorder - Standalone Fully Voiced Follower) will also be ported to the PS4/PS5 version.
In addition, the logs added in Riverwood Revitalized trap the Recorder's quest item, so they cannot be used together without the patch. I hope the patch will be ported along with it.
Another project I'm currently working on is releasing the house mod that I released on Bethesda.net on Nexus as well.
I created patches for any patch requests or feedback comments I received about the Nexus version that were feasible, and reflected them in improving the work.
Houses added by the house mod are set to be free so that you can move in immediately after installing them in the game, but there have also been requests for the option to purchase houses for a fee.
Even if you're short on money at the beginning of the game, you'll have more money left over from the middle onwards, so making your house a paid place is certainly a quick way to spend your extra money.
I actually considered a way to sell the house key for a fee, but due to Skyrim's game system, merchants are intrinsically unable to sell keys. This restriction is likely in place to prevent merchants from accidentally selling the keys to their own homes.
While we can use the VendorNoSale keyword flag to prevent merchants from selling an item, the system is likely designed to entirely prohibit key sales as a safeguard in case that flag fails to work properly.
Therefore, two potential methods for selling the key are:
1. Selling the key via a quest interaction with a merchant.
2. Selling the key schematic/blueprint through the merchant, and allowing the player to craft the key.
Method 1 requires adding a new script for the quest, which cannot be implemented on the PS4.
For Method 2, I feel it might not even be necessary for the merchant to sell the schematic at all.
Speaking of external assets such as script additions, I've been curious about the fact that mods published on Nexus have recently been ported to PS4 and PS5 (with external assets), but until recently there had been no official announcement from Bethesda.
Since I don't check Bethesda's Discord channel meticulously every day or every week, I only recently became aware of this development.
"We are excited to announce we are working with Sony to allow a range of external assets to be included in Skyrim Creations for PlayStation.
Currently, we are beta testing a version of the Creation Kit which can upload scripts. This greatly increases the sophistication of available content, including new game systems and more complex quests. We are investigating additional external assets as well.
The Creation Kit beta is limited to members of the Verified Creator program, who are permitted to use this when uploading both free and paid content to the Bethesda.net platform.
In addition to expanded PlayStation support, the beta CK allows Creations of up to 2 gigs to be uploaded here.
Due to the ongoing investigation into external asset support, we expect this to be a lengthy beta, and do not have an ETA on releasing the CK update publicly. When we have more news, we’ll announce it here."
I heard that they are currently preparing for a Creation Kit update that will allow MOD files, including scripts, to be published on PS4 and PS5.
Since they are also discussing external assets with Sony, it seems we might officially be able to publish both scripts and external assets on PS4/PS5 sometime in the future.
However, what concerns me is that there has been no mention of increasing the download capacity for MODs.
Although scripts don't take up much space, introducing multiple mods that include large external assets—such as those that enhance character appearances or scenery—will require a significant increase in the available MOD download capacity.
The official announcement included this statement: "The Creation Kit Beta is available to members of the Verified Creator Program only, for use when uploading free and paid content to the Bethesda.net platform."
Explanation: The "Verified Creator Program" is a program designed to support the creation and activities of users whom a service or platform has officially recognized as "Creators."
Since I am not a member of the Verified Creator Program, I will wait until the official version is released.
